Kate has always had a passion for animals, which has grown throughout her life. This passion inspired Kate to pursue a degree in Animal Science focusing on Human and Animal Interactions from the Ohio State University. She continued to gain experience in all aspects of the animal industry from domestic to livestock. Her career path eventually led her to a life in exotic animal care and conservation. Kate’s current position at the Birmingham Zoo includes focusing on rhino conservation and serving as the Communication Liaison for the Bowling for Rhinos National AAZK Committee. She is also a board member for the Rhino Man organization. Due to Kate’s experience in animal care, and understanding of the poaching crisis, she strives to make a connection between people and rhinos. The more people care, the more we can accomplish together.
