Rhino Man the Movie goes to Jackson Wild Film Festival!

We are so excited to announce that RHINO MAN The Movie has been selected as one of the 2023 Jackson Wild Media Awards Finalists!
Over 450 films entered the competition in 2023, with more than 1100 category entries from 74 different countries around the world. We are honored to be selected as a finalist in two categories: “Our People and Nature” and “Conservation.”
Winners will be announced during the Grand Teton Awards Gala on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Jackson Wild Summit in Grand Teton National Park, WY. GCC’s Matt Lindenberg and John Jurko will be in attendance, joined by some of the stars and cast of the film.
It has been a long eight-year journey, but the opportunity to tell the stories of rangers on the global stage is finally here. We are so excited for our first festival! We could not have done it without your support. Thank you to everyone who has stood with us for nearly a decade!

Inaugural All-Girls Leadership Excursion at Koru Camp

Last week, 16 female Future Ranger students from Dayimani High School had the opportunity to attend a three-day excursion and leadership retreat at Koru Camp.
During the trip, the students were treated to multiple activities including a medicinal tree tour, yoga and meditation sessions, stargazing, debates around the fire, and four game drives! It was such an enjoyable and memorable experience for both the young learners and our facilitators.

This all-girls activity focused on leadership, mentorship, and empowerment. With big smiles on these young women’s faces, we are certain that they returned home with a greater sense of confidence, pride, ownership and respect for themselves, each other and their environment.

Excursions like this would not be possible without the support of our monthly donors. It only takes $20 a month to support a Future Rangers student. Learn more about how you can be part of “The Corps” here.
Matt at Rwanda Conference

GCC’s Matt Lindenberg and Mbhoni Mzamani had the great opportunity to attend the 2023 Business of Conservation Conference (BCC), held August 29-31 at the Kigali Convention Center in Rwanda. Hosted by the African Leadership University School of Wildlife Conservation, in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), BCC is an inspiring, powerful annual gathering of top African CEOs, Heads of State, global technologists, investors, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, students and innovative conservationists to find practical, sustainable ways of powering economic growth in Africa through wildlife conservation.
Matt was also a featured speaker in a roundtable discussion entitled “Conservation leadership for Africa,” which discussed the critical nature of creating an obvious and accessible pipeline to connect our next generation of conservation leaders to conservation fields and opportunities across Africa. Matt was joined by Richard Vigne, Executive Director of ALU SOWC, Peter Fearnhead, CEO of African Parks, and Belise Kariza, Country Director for Rwanda at the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF).
“Because this conference focuses specifically on providing a practical “how to” guide for African economic development through conservation, it is a great opportunity for GCC to share our vision of bridging the gap between wildlife and communities by creating conservation education and employment pathways through our Future Rangers Program,” Matt said. “It also gives us the opportunity to connect with and learn from today’s leading conservation organizations across Africa, which contributes to our continuing growth and development as a force for good in our communities.”
