RHINO MAN Takes Center Stage:
A Dream Realized!
“RHINO MAN highlights the immense debt we owe to rangers, the true heroes in our efforts to protect the world’s wildlife.” – Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE
“My hope is that the stories of rangers you will hear in this film will inspire you to take action.” – HRH Prince William of Wales
After nearly a decade in production, RHINO MAN has finally made its way to the big screen with world premieres in Hoedspruit, New York, Toronto, and Atlanta during the month of June.
Through support from Deloitte, Air Canada, Emirates, Quantifind, and ManchesterCF, some of the RHINO MAN cast and crew were able to attend these screenings, with live Q&A sessions after the viewing.
Members on the world tour included ranger trainers and RHINO MAN stars, Ruben and Marianne De Kock, Head of Field Ranger Services at the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Orlat Ndlovu, Black Mambas’ Supervisor, Leitah Mkhabela, and film directors John Jurko II and Matt Lindenberg.
In total, over 600 individuals attended the various events, interacting with the rangers, and hearing their stories from the front-lines of conservation.

Amplifying Future Rangers:
All-Girls Koru Camp Adventure
“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir
From the 18-20th June, we hosted our second all-girls trip to Koru Camp in 2024, welcoming Future Rangers students from Mahlale High School.
Meeting at the Balule “Jejane” Gate for a briefing on camp expectations and behavior, the stage was set for an unforgettable adventure. The girls, filled with excitement, eagerly anticipated what would become some of the best days of their lives. They participated in team-building activities, yoga, mindfulness training, conservation lessons, mentoring sessions, and campfire chats that fostered a deep connection to themselves and nature.
Each morning began with the thrilling sound of lions roaring, a natural alarm clock that heightened the girls’ anticipation for the day ahead. The sound of a lion roaring is one of the most iconic and powerful sounds in nature. It symbolizes strength, power, and the majesty of the wild; characteristics we wanted to instill in the girls.
Guided by Joel and Bongani, two Koru Camp staff, whose vivid descriptions brought the wonders of the natural world to life, every game drive became a memorable journey. “The thought of lions passing a few meters from my tent makes me scared but it was enjoyable,” said Lieketseng, one of the high school students. This immersive experience left a lasting impression on the girls, inspiring them to continue their conservation efforts and cherish the beauty of the natural world.
“It is heartening to see the dedication and commitment of GCC in helping young learners cope with and overcome the challenges they face, while immersing them in a tranquil, natural environment.” – Corné Havenga, Koru Camp CEO
Future Rangers Explore the
Majesty of Giraffes
Our Future Rangers at Mahlekisana, Salani, and Manyeleti Primary Schools had an unforgettable experience learning about giraffes this month! The giraffe, as an emblem of nature’s grandeur, reminds us to reach for the highest leaves, something we imbue in our Future Rangers’ core values when experiencing nature.
With support from the Wild Hearts curriculum, the lessons were filled with fun facts about these gentle giants, sparking curiosity and wonder among the students.
The highlight of the day was a creative project where students made giraffes out of tissue roll tubes. Both students and teachers had a fantastic time crafting these adorable giraffes. The activity not only provided a hands-on learning experience but also fostered a deeper appreciation for wildlife conservation.
Seeing the joy and creativity in our Future Rangers reaffirms our mission to inspire the next generation to protect and cherish our natural world.
