The Challenge
GCC was in great need for a reliable vehicle for operations in South Africa, which would enable us to reach more of the remote communities in which our work was needed. We were also seeking a partner who would help provide additional funding for expanded operational capacity in USA in order to fund the team leading the buildout of Future Rangers Program and educational app.

A Transformative Gift
The Morgridge Family Foundation’s “Transformative Gift” to GCC included the finance of a new vehicle and funds to cover a large portion of operations for the next two years, allowing us to make an enormous impact despite the challenges of COVID-19:
Future Rangers
We have expanded the Future Rangers Program to reach over 4,000 students, developing a monitoring and evaluation app which has huge scaling potential, and hiring new employees for local and international teams.
Rangers
We delivered over 10,000 kg of food to 50 ranger families and their communities during the height of COVID-19 (something that wouldn’t have been possible without the generous donation of a vehicle).
Scholarships
We have been able to fund 15 scholarships to young men and women from local communities, creating job opportunities in a severely COVID impacted economy, and enabling our scholarship winners to complete Field Ranger Training and begin new conservation driven careers.
A Strategic Future
GCC was also included in the inaugural Morgridge Accelerator Program, in which we were paired with Ellie Milano from Impact by Design (an agency focused on developing the capabilities of organizations to maximize impact for animals, people, and the environment) to develop our strategic plan for future impact.
